A Case of Xanthogranulomatous Pyelonephritis

Abstract

|
Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is associated with renal calculi, urinary obstruction and chronic urinary tract infection. The accurate preoperative diagnosis of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is difficult because of its clinical and radiological similarities to various other renal diseases. Definitive diagnosis of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is made only on histological examination. We recently experienced a case of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis treated by nephrectomy in a 25-year-old man without urinary tract obstruction. So we report the case with a brief review of the literatures.
